The short version

  • We collect what we need to run a family cash back account: your contact details, your family members, and the purchases stores report to us.
  • The free account needs no card, so free members give us no payment details. Plus payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can ask us to show, export or delete your data by emailing support@example.com.

1Who is responsible

Kindred Family Pass is operated by Interactive Ecommerce LLC, 30 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801 ("we", "us"). This policy explains how we handle personal information on our website, app and emails.

2What we collect

  • Account details: your name and email address, and the names and email addresses of family members you invite.
  • Sign-in details: if you set a password, we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of it, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they send us an account identifier, your email address (with Apple, possibly a private relay address that forwards to you), whether that address is confirmed, and the first time, your name. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
  • Quiz answers: the answers you give in our savings quiz, such as household size and typical monthly spending ranges, and the estimate we calculate from them.
  • Purchase tracking data: when you open a store through our app, we record the click. Affiliate networks and stores then report back details of the purchase, such as the store, order date, order amount, commission and status. We do not receive the list of items you bought unless a store includes it.
  • Payment information: the free account needs no payment details, and we collect none from free members. If you subscribe to Kindred Plus, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly; we receive only limited details such as the card brand, last four digits, expiry date and payment status. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Renewal consent records: if you subscribe to Plus, we record your agreement to the automatic renewal terms: the text shown to you, the date and time, your IP address and browser.
  • Payout details: your PayPal email or chosen gift card, and your payout history.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and similar technical data, collected through server logs and cookies.
  • Messages: anything you send us, such as support emails or cancellation feedback.

3How we use it

  • To run your account: sign-in (links, passwords, Google and Apple), your family account, tracking cash back, paying out and, if you subscribe to Plus, billing.
  • To send service emails, including Plus receipts and renewal reminders, payout notices and security messages.
  • Only if you ask for them, to send offers and savings tips by email (see marketing emails in section 7).
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To measure and improve our advertising and our service.

4Advertising measurement

We use the Meta pixel on our website and the Meta Conversions API from our server to measure whether our ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. When you sign up, we send Meta events such as a lead or purchase together with your email address in hashed (scrambled) form, plus technical data such as your IP address, browser and Meta cookie IDs. Meta uses this to match the event to its users and report results to us. You can control ad personalization in your Meta account settings and in your browser or device settings.

5Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the service, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

  • Stripe, for Plus payments and billing. Free members are never sent to Stripe.
  • Resend, to deliver our emails and to tell us when one bounces or is reported as spam.
  • Meta, for advertising measurement as described above.
  • Affiliate networks and stores, which receive a click identifier so they can report purchases back to us. We do not give them your name or email.
  • PayPal and gift card providers, to send your payouts.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that store our data.
  • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them: they confirm who you are to us and learn that you use our service. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, our emails reach you through Apple's relay.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

No sale of personal data. We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing data with Meta for ad measurement may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out of that sharing at any time with the Your privacy choices link at the bottom of every page, or by emailing us. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out.

6Browser extension

Our optional browser extension stores these things in your browser only:

  • The store list, refreshed every 6 hours.
  • Which stores you activated in each tab during the session.
  • Stores where a creator or partner link brought you this session.
  • Stores you dismissed, for 24 hours.

Apart from the Activate click described below, it sends nothing about the sites you visit to us. On a store in our list, it asks our site for the store list and your signed-in status and family balance. It reads only the address of the store page and the address of the page that sent you there.

When you click Activate, the address of that store page is sent to our site so the partner link returns you to it.

7Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, including the right not to be treated differently for using them.

How to make a request. Email support@example.com from the email on your account, and say whether you want an export, a correction or deletion. We will confirm your request, verify it is you (usually through a sign-in link to your account email), and respond within 45 days. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission.

If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except what we must keep for legal, tax, accounting or fraud prevention reasons. Deleting your account cancels any Plus subscription. Request a payout of your available balance first; we remind you of it before we delete anything.

Marketing emails. We send offers and savings tips by email only if you ask for them: by ticking the box "Email me offers and savings tips. Unsubscribe anytime." in our quiz, when you create your account or in your account settings. The box is never ticked for you and is separate from our terms. We then email you a link to confirm, and send nothing until you confirm. We record when and where you agreed, the wording you agreed to, and your IP address and browser, as proof of your consent.

How to unsubscribe. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and a one-tap unsubscribe button in your email app. You can also choose topics or unsubscribe in your account settings, on the email preferences page linked from each email, or by emailing support@example.com. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We then keep your email address on a suppression list so we never send you marketing again unless you sign up and confirm again. Addresses whose emails bounce permanently or are reported as spam are suppressed for good.

Service emails such as sign-in links, Plus receipts and renewal reminders and payout notices are part of your account and are sent while it is open, whatever your marketing choices.

8Categories of personal information

This table covers the 12 months before the date at the top of this policy. It uses the categories in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell any of these categories, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

We disclose identifiers, customer records and commercial information to the service providers listed in section 5 for the business purposes described there. We share identifiers and internet activity with Meta for ad measurement unless you opt out.

9Notice of financial incentive

California law treats programs that give you something of value in connection with your personal information as a "financial incentive". Our free account includes one:

  • Cash back program. We pass the member share, by default 70%, of the store commission we receive on your family's tracked purchases to your family balance and keep 30%, under the rules in our terms.

Personal information involved. Identifiers, customer records and commercial information, as described in section 8. Tracking a purchase needs a click ID linked to your family account, and paying out needs your payout details.

How you opt in. You opt in when you create a free account and agree to our terms. Invited family members opt in when they accept their invite.

How you withdraw. You can withdraw at any time by closing your account in your account settings, or by asking us to delete it. Available cash back can still be paid out as our terms describe.

Value of your data. We estimate the value of your personal information to us as about equal to the cash back we pass on to your family. We calculate it this way because the store commission that funds your cash back is only paid when a purchase can be linked to your account. We do not price personal information separately from the account.

10Appeals and other US states

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and other states with consumer privacy laws have rights similar to those in section 7, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising. Make requests the same way.

How to appeal. If we decline all or part of a request, our reply explains why. You can appeal by emailing support@example.com with the subject "Privacy appeal" within 45 days of our decision. A person who did not handle the original request reviews it, and we tell you the result in writing within 45 days, with our reasons. If you disagree with the result, you can contact your state Attorney General: Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut or Texas.

11Children and teens

Our service is not for children under 13, and members under 13 are not allowed. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Teens aged 13 to 17 may be added only by a parent or legal guardian who manages the family account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

12How long we keep data

We keep account data while your account is open. After it closes, we keep billing, payout and ledger records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, generally up to 7 years, and delete or anonymize the rest within 12 months. Quiz answers from people who never created an account are deleted within 24 months.

Marketing email: we keep your consent records while you are subscribed and for 24 months after you unsubscribe. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days. Logs of which campaign emails we sent you and whether they were delivered, bounced or reported as spam are deleted after 24 months. The suppression list is kept indefinitely so we can honor your unsubscribe; if you ask us to delete your data, we keep only a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your email address on it.

Records of your agreement to automatic renewal (the terms shown to you, the date and time, your IP address and browser) are kept for 3 years after the later of your agreement, your last paid charge and the end of your Plus subscription, as California law requires.

13Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, one-time sign-in links or hashed passwords, secure session cookies, and limited staff access. Card data is handled by Stripe, which is certified to PCI DSS. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

14Changes and contact

If we make material changes to this policy, we will email members before they take effect. Questions or requests: support@example.com, or write to Interactive Ecommerce LLC, 30 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801.
