How your family earns, and when you get paid
Cash back is not magic. Stores pay us a referral commission when you buy through our links. You get 70% of it in your family's shared balance, and we keep 30% to run Kindred. Joining is free. Here is the whole path, step by step.
Start every purchase from the app
Open the Deals tab, pick a store and tap through. The offer shows your number before you shop: "Earn 4% back" means 4% of the order goes to your family. We send you to the store with a private code that tells the store your order came from our family account. Then shop as usual, with your normal store account and payment.
- Online orders on the store's website only; in-store and store-app orders don't earn.
- Tap through right before you buy, in the same browser.
- Finish the order in that visit, without leaving to look for coupon codes on other sites.
- Ad blockers and strict privacy settings can stop tracking. Allow cookies for the store if you can.
Stores report most purchases within a few days. If one never shows up, contact us within 60 days and we will chase it with the store.
Why cash back waits for the return window
Stores only pay commission on orders that are kept. So every purchase goes through two stages before you can withdraw it.

After the return window, usually 30 to 45 days, and longer for some stores, such as travel, which confirms after the trip, the store confirms the order and pays the commission. The cash back moves to available and can be withdrawn.

If the store reverses the commission, we remove the matching cash back. If it was already paid out, your balance can dip below zero until future cash back covers it.

Each person gets an email invite and joins once they accept it. Everyone has their own sign-in, and every purchase they make through the app lands in one shared family balance. Name a goal, like a summer trip, and every order moves the bar.
